Parent Meeting Notes from 10/8

Thank you again to those that were able to make our meeting tonight at West. We really do appreciate your time and energy. Below is a recap of what was discussed for those who could not attend. Our next parent meeting will be held on November 10th, from 6-7pm.

At this meeting we will discuss our first meet in December, please be prepared to be present. A big request first - we are still looking for one more person to be our Fundraiser Chairperson. Lisa has graciously accepted to head up the Seroogy sales, but we still need someone to take over the dine out nights. Karin has a lot of the paperwork and contact info already and asserts that the job is pretty easy! Please help support the girls by taking charge of this area. Reach out to myself or Karin if interested.

Meeting notes:

  • Coaches' College - Meg is looking into ways to cut costs for her to be able to attend this conference in California. Current estimates are about $1,500 total. If carpooling and room sharing aren't able to be found, she may not be able to attend. The decision will be made by 10/20.
  • Budget - The current budget and financials were printed and reviewed at the meeting. Current coffers hold about $5,000 which is a typical base for the beginning of the season.
  • Fundraising - Besides discussing the need for another Fundraising Chairperson, a discussion started about a possible flat donation in lieu of participating in fundraising activities. With the overall goal of raising approximately $1,500 a year with fundraisers, a proposal of a minimum $150 donation was presented. More discussion to come.
  • Big Sister/Little Sister - Each girl will be paired with another in sisterhood  (to be set up by Coach Meg asap). Each girl should bring a small donation (card, candy, or token, etc) to each meet to wish good luck to her sister.
  • FlipGive/AmazonSmile: Please please please use these two programs to raise money for our team. They are of no cost to you and ridiculously easy to use. Here is the FlipGive link (code: Y5PZMC). Every dollar helps!
  • Rec/Girl Scout Classes: A Rec class will most likely be held sometime in November. If you know of a Brownie/Girl Scout troop that would like an outing to learn synchro, let Coach Meg know!

Practice Updates:

  • Please note how important it is for swimmers to be at practice. As a team sport, it hinders the group if a girl is frequently absent.
  • Inform Coach Meg if your daughter will not be able to attend a practice.
  • There WILL be practice the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, Nov. 22nd.
  • There WILL NOT be practice whenever the Wauwatosa School District is closed (winter break: Dec. 27th and 29th, and spring break: March 28th and 30th)

Please let us know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.
